Durant, Commanders fans post memes of Samuel no-call

Must read

Curtis Samuel didn’t have much to say about Sunday’s controversial no-call in which the referees swallowed their whistles on the final play of the game, despite there being ample contact between the Commanders wide receiver and New York Giants cornerback Darnay Holmes. The lack of defensive pass interference resulted in a turnover on downs in the final minute— and helped seal Washington’s 20-12 loss to its NFC East rival.

“Ain’t nothing I can do about that,” Samuel said.

Others, though, weren’t nearly as collected about no flag being thrown.

A day after Washington’s loss, Commanders fans — including NBA star Kevin Durant — posted a series of memes that feature Holmes wrapped around Samuel in photoshopped situations.

When a fan tweeted Durant “LMAOOO what happened to the Commanders??,” the Brooklyn Nets star replied with this:

After the game, referee John Hussey defended the no-call to a pool reporter.

“Pass interference is a judgment call,” Hussey said. “To the officials it didn’t rise to what they felt was a restriction, thus they didn’t call it. That’s basically the bottom line there. It’s a judgment call and they didn’t believe it was pass interference.”
